Course Project "Connections". Our task was to design a logo for Maplewood Landscape Design that included a compelling graphic image(s) that was out of the ordinary (I used 2 different stock vector graphics). We wrote down lists of nouns, adjectives and verbs for each word in the company name. Then it was time to look for connections within those words to spark our imagination to create something visually and compelling.
“Maplewood” really struck me as an upscale, elite and posh type of neighbourhood. A gated community with very expensive homes, nice cars, pool in the backyard, yearly vacations, executive careers, 2 or more kids at private school, etc. Basing this as my “target market”, I kept with the theme of “All American (Canadian) Family Dream” because these are the types of people (but not limited to) that hire and can afford Landscape Designers. If they can see themselves in the logo, they may be attracted to this and would want to learn more about this company.
I used traditional backyard/environment colours for this design to look more “country” vs. urban.
